I use products from various companies. This area will explore some of the ones I have employed on my layout.
During my construction I did not have the track plan from Atlas so I was basically winging it. I have since bought it and need to figure out where the plastic joiner goes to separate the power districts.
I finally bought another extruded foam board. I carved it up into a layered mountain that has a tunnel in it. I have a hot wire foam cutter for some of the detailing but I am planning on purchasing a hot knife as well. The tunnel is over the left inner loop. The area inside will be a hiking scene. It has a ranger tower and a park station as well.
I'd like to use this page to thank Woodland Scenics for replacing my foam cutter. I had used it only a couple of times and it failed. I sent a quick note to their customer support site on the web asking how to co about fixing it and the very next day they offered to replace it! Great customer support! So, did this pay off for them?
Answer: YES They have a very happy customer, and I converted my ramp to use their foam system over scraps I had lying around! I also decided to use some of their plaster and gauze and try my hand at some more realistic modeling than I feel I am ready for.
This is another testimonial for a company with wonderful customer support. I purchased a kit from a local hobby shop. The No Problem Joe's Kit from Grandt Line Products. After taking a few nights to carefully paint the pieces on the sprue it was time to start assembly. After looking at the detailed instructions I notices that I was missing a set of doors and actually had an extra set of windows! ARGH!!! So I sent them a note and they quickly responded :
Not to worry..will send you the correct piece that you need....
Great news. Now I can relax and finish the rest of the job!
Well I never received the missing part. I modified some of the extra windows to replace the doors. It looks fine to me so I didn't really push it. I am sure that if I had they would have made good on their promise.
